Welcome to the Official
Miss Mission Beach Website

The Miss Mission Beach Organization is a fund raising group that donates its proceeds to Adaptive Sports Events in San Diego County.  Miss Mission Beach San Diego (MMBSD) is a 501C3 organization and all volunteer organization.  MMBSD is dedicated to benefiting the lives of children and adults with physical disabilities through sports.

The Miss Mission Beach Pageant is held in conjunction with the Old Mission Beach Athletic Club’s (OMBAC) annual Music Fest held at Mariner’s Point every May.  Our Pageant provides the opportunity for young women over 21 years old to compete for the Miss Mission Beach (MMB) title.  Miss Mission Beach will make various appearances during the year at various Adaptive Sports Events, the St Patrick’s Day Parade and other events.  These events will be scheduled to help promote the Miss Mission Beach Title and the mission of the Miss Mission Beach Organization.  She and the runner up will also have the opportunity to volunteer at various events to help with Adaptive Sports Events.  Many of these events are sponsored by the San Diego Adaptive Sports Foundation, Challenged Athletes Foundation and the Old Mission Beach Athletic Club.   It will also give those women who seek a “ Miss Title” to go on to other pageants with a title.

We want to thank OMBAC for allowing our pageant to be held at their event.

Next Pageant will be held on May 14, 2011. Sign Up Now!

Miss Mission Beach 2010

A self-proclaimed San Diegan, I moved to the sunny city at 18 years old to attend San Diego State University. During college, I held many offices in my sorority Alpha Phi and years of competitive gymnastics and dancing came in handy when I auditioned and made the squad for the 2005 San Diego Charger Girls.  After graduating with honors in 2007 with a degree in Journalism, I moved to Melbourne, Australia for five months to live, work and be completely independent. This experience undoubtedly changed my life as it pushed me to prove to myself to see what I was capable of. I like the quote, "People are like tea bags, you can always tell how strong they are, when they are put in hot water!"

For the last year and a half I have worked as the Private Events Coordinator for three Gaslamp locations, The Double Deuce, The Tipsy Crow and Whiskey Girl. My true passion is writing and one day I hope to be a commercial fiction novelist, much like Danielle Steel. Outside of work you will inevitably find me outside- hiking, kayaking, rock climbing, running or laying out with a book. In my spare time I work for a variety of promotion companies, which led me to find The Miss Mission Beach Pageant. An organization that prides itself on helping those in need, targeting the adaptive sports programs, I was drawn to learn more. After winning the title as 2010 Miss Mission Beach, I have already had the opportunity to be a part of some amazing experiences like the La Jolla Special Olympics and the 1980 USGP movie premiere, which included a live auction that benefited the adaptive sports program. Excited for the year ahead, I will be competing for Miss California in November 2010 and hopefully Miss USA in 2011!

My name is Marisa Gibson and I am Miss Mission Beach 1st Princess 2010. I am 26 years old and currently work as a Staff Accountant. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration from San Diego State University and am in the process of obtaining my Master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix. I was born and raised in San Diego and am definitely a “So-Cal” kind of girl. I enjoy going to the desert, river, snow, and of course, the beach. I look forward to my reign as Miss Mission Beach 1st Princess and being a part of an organization actively involved in bringing awareness to children and adults with physical disabilities through the use of adaptive sports.

My name is Shantele Marcum and I’m the 2nd Princess and People’s Choice winner of the 2010 Miss Mission Beach Pageant. I was born and raised in San Diego. I am currently a student at Grossmont College and plan on transferring to San Diego State in the fall. I want to pursue my degree in communications and have my own talk show one day. In my spare time I enjoy going to the beach, spending time with friends & family, yoga, dancing, working out, skydiving, and traveling. My favorite place to be is the beach. Besides volunteering my time to adaptive sports, I have volunteered with the elderly, American Red Cross, and the YMCA. I look forward to contributing my time to the adaptive sports and my community throughout my reign as 2nd Princess Miss Mission beach 2010.
